I have the honour to enclose herewith a copy
of a letter which I have just received from the Honourable
C.P.Chater and the Honourable J.J.Pell-Irving, Members of the
Executive and Legislative Councils.
The proposal of these gentlemen to present to
this Colony Statues of His Majesty the King and His Royal
Highness the Prince of Wales is one which will, I am sure,
be most acceptable to the Community of Hong-Kong.
As I am on the eve of departure for home, I re-
frain from discussing the details of the proposal now transmit-
ted, but on my arrival in England I will, with your permission,
explain fully all particulars.
In the meantime I forward herewith a tracing
showing the sites on which it is proposed to erect the Sta-
tues.
